A few questions about melanocytes i need answers to. Please and thanks
1. Are their population finite?
2. Are the population of melanocyte stem cells in the stemcell resevoir finite?
3. Are there any research peptides that increase melanocyte population?
4. Are there any other methods than NVUVB therapy shown to increase melano pop?
Is the 16 mg afamelanotide implant* or "scennesse"
Supposed to last a month? Is this not an extremely low dosage for the hopes of vitiligo repigmentation with nbuvb?
I've read on these forums that a dose of 1-3mg is needed daily for any significant result. Is this due due to short half life? Sorry for the qs but find this very interesting!
I can't answer much about the first post, so I won't - sorry!

The implant has the advantage of a slow, constant release of peptide, removing the disadvantage of the really short half life.
Its the same reason many MT1 users dose 2/3 times daily.
This should answer most of your questions. http://homepage.smc.edu/wissmann_paul/anatomy1/1skincolorandtanning.html
"There is very little variation in the number of melanocytes between people of different races. Thus, racial pigmentation differences do not depend upon the number of melanocytes but on the intensity of pigment produced by these cells."
So I'm not 100% sure stuff out there doesn't exist to do that, but it's highly unlikely. I know some researchers are working on melanocyte transplantations for vitiligo which is somewhat related.
