I've been following the progress of melanotan for over a decade and before MT2 even existed. I finally decided to take the plunge with MT2 this month.
I have skin type 2. I copied mt-anon's nasal spray method using the same rhinaris spray and everything. I'm now 16 days and approx 22mgs into it (have been using a good bit as I expected nasal spray to be less effective). I've had 4 or 5 exposures to sun. I got a little pink once but did not stay out long enough to actually burn. Anyway, at this point I'm not sure that I'm any darker than I would normally be for the same amount of UV exposure. Have also experienced zero of the usually reported side effects using the nasal spray (not that that's bad).
I'm thinking of ditching the nasal spray method and going subQ. Given that in theory I already have at least some MT2 in my system, should I start really low on the subQ dosing or maybe start in the 300mcg range?
Hey LattimerII, definitely begin with low dosage (even with some MT2 in the system), you can quickly ramp up accordingly. Two weeks time is early, have a timeline or goal in mind for the subcutaneous injection?
No definite timeline. Summer is in full swing here and there is a lot of sun and heat! The sooner the better.* I did not expect to have a dark tan in 2 weeks, but at this point I'm not sure if it's had any effect at all. I can tan somewhat naturally, and right now I look about as I would without taking anything given the amount of time I've been outside.
Hoping for better results with SubQ. Maybe I'm getting impatient, but with 22mg taken, I expected to be able to tell a difference.
When I first started with sub-q I expected results a lot quicker. However, I found out that MT-2 is like a natural tan, and like a natural tan, it takes time.
22mg in 2 weeks is an extreme amount of MT-2 and expensive. From my experience, if I was taking that much from a nasal spray I'd be putting the lion's share of that into my stomach--which will do nothing. Were you doing 2 sprays in each nostril, once an hour, many many times a day? Anything more than 2 sprays into a nostril results in most of what you've just sprayed running right down the back of your throat.
If you want to tan fast, more MT-2 isn't the secret. The secret is daily UV exposure. I've known people that have sub-q'd 20mg in 2 weeks, preparing for a vacation. In that time they had about 10 tanning salon exposures. They turned a gross grey colour with dark rings around their eyes. It looked horrible and freaky, to be honest and not like a tan.
I've had many successful tans with MT-2, from both sub-q and nasal spray and I've said it before and I'll say it again ... like a real tan, slow and steady wins the race and the more time you spend in the sun the darker and faster your tan will be. With MT-2 sub-q, spending 20-30 minutes a day in the sun on each side, it takes me 3 weeks to get a good tan--and I tan much easier than you do. Lastly, sun will tan you infinitely better than a salon.
Thanks for your response, mt-anon. I think I may have expected results too quickly. I copied your method, and never used more than 2 sprays in each nostril at a time (just did it frequently throughout the day). Perhaps if I stuck with it longer, I would achieve good results.
I may eventually try the nasal method again, but for now I've switched to subQ. This way I feel like I have more control over the actual dosing. With the nasal spray method, I'm sure I absorbed some of it, and I'm sure I probably swallowed a good bit too. As a result, I have no idea how much of that 22mg I actually absorbed. Could be 5mg, could be 15mg.
Regardless of method, I now realize that more patience is needed on my part.
Just an observation to add, I think first time users generally take longer to see results. I think the body takes time to recognize the peptide and the results to kick in. Generally once it's kicked in once, it'll be really quick to act in subsequent uses. Two weeks is nothing by the way, sub q or nasal, especially for a first timer.
