    Smarter Tanning

An overwhelming majority of indoor tanning business owners say that tanning businesses are teaching a balanced message to customers about the risk of over exposure to UV light – a key reason why tanning is being more honest about UV than the cosmetic dermatology and chemical sunscreen industries.

Where the rubber meets the road, professional tanning businesses do a better job of teaching overall sun care than those who are preaching one-sided sun avoidance. Cosmetic dermatology and chemical sunscreen companies are teaching that all sunlight should be avoided – which is both alarmist and potentially harmful says Joe Levy, President of Smart Tan.

Cosmetic dermatology still fails to acknowledge that a suntan is effective at helping the body prevent sunburn. As is well known, a tan does not cause skin cancer, sun burning can. When the body produces enough melanin to prevent burning then the skin becomes tanned.

The only product I am familiar with that is currently on the market is called Melanotan II or MTII which causes the body to produce more melanin than it is genetically capable of doing on its own and thereby prevents burning. MTII or MelanotanII is available in the United States.

    Re: Melanotan Revolutionizing Tanning

    Why tan?
Well this is a simple answer, to feel sexy and appealing to the opposite sex. there is something about being tan and knowing you look good. Not only does tanning build confidence it's give the appearance of being healthy and young.

    Why People should not tan.
Tanning using traditional methods has long been considered unhealthy, but more so in the last few years has science really uncovered the unfavorable and long-term health risks. UV light t causes your skin to produce melanin as the UV rays are actually damaging the skin, but the skin is resistant and the more damaged the skin is exposed the more melanin it will produce causing you to tan. Tanning beds use the same method of tanning you as being outside in the sun but at a much faster pace and in larger more damaging amount. Prolong tanning bed usage has been linked to melanoma and skin cancers.

Exposing yourself to some UV is necessary.
UV light isn't all bad, many of the vitamins and hormones our body needs to be healthy are produced by the skin and exposure to UV. For many years people assumed it was good to avoid all sunlight and protect the skin at all cost. Science later proved that some sun is required by the body, many health problems have been linked to underexposed to UV including vitamin D deficiency and maintaining a heart health. Sun abstinence is not the answer to avoiding sun damage. Remember you need sun, you don't need sun burn.

    Tanning methods in use today.
Most people think of tanning and they think of traditional tanning beds. Tanning beds are still the most commonly used method but other methods are slowly catching up. The second options more people think of is spray tanning such as Mystic Tan. Spray tanning is much safer then tanning beds but the results are not as natural and the cost is about 3x traditional tanning beds. You may also run the risk of reacting with to the spray dies or just getting a semi permanent tan that may looks bad. The chemicals in spray tanning can also be toxic if digested, test show they are safe to apply to the surface.

New breakthroughs in the tanning industry.
In recent years, the University of Arizona developed a new method of tanning that will completely revolutionize the tanning world as we know it. the discovered the synthetic version of the skins very own pigment, melanin. This melanotan peptide has the ability to tan one's skin without unnecessary exposure to damaging UV rays. Later a more potent version of the melanotan, melanotan II was devoloped. Some before and after photos show the dramatic tan this substance can produce.

    Melanotan Studies.
Melanotan II is being studied by many pharmaceutical companies not only for it's amazing skin tanning ability but also for it's ability to help with ED or erectile dysfunction in males and low desire syndrome in females. Melanotan II in case studies has greatly increased desire and ability for men and woman. Once the FDA approves this peptide it could be the next big main stream ED medication to hit the market. Melanotan is also undergoing testing as a diet drug for the future. Many of the study patients lost body fat while maintaining muscle.

    Melanotan and the future.
This peptide is believed by many of the researchers to be the future in tanning. No real side effects have been discovered other then slight nausea after dosing and darkening of existing freckles.

Pricing Melanotan II is less then monthly tanning salons cost and one spray tan would pay for a month supply.
