Hi, everyone, I have been looking on these forums for years and I've finally made the decision to try. Thank you so much for providing information And hope for us type 1s!
I am a typical type 1, and I'm sick of going on holiday and people laughing and pointing at how pale I am and having to avoid the sun. Everyone else loves holidays but I dread them!
I am unable to do the injections as my husband would flip out, but I am really keen on trying the nasal spray.* Can anyone answer the following queries]
1. Does the nasal spray work on type 1 skin
2. How often do you need to 'snort' it to achieve a light tan
3. Does anyone have any before and after photos from a type 1 using the nasal spray?
Thank you so much in advance for your help. I can't wait until the day I can enjoy my holiday and look great in a bikini rather than blend in with the sand and not have to worry about burning.* ]

1. Most definitely, it'll work just as good as injections. It will take about twice as much, however.
2. As often as you like, depending on the bottle and how much it sprays.
Do a little extra before exposure, do a bit every 8 hours, do whatever suits you best. Spacing it out will allow you to get a good concentration in your body at all times.
using a nasal gel spray to do mt2 at moment. my question is where do i want this spray to coat, how far into the nose, do you breathe it upwards?? feel like im doing it wrong!!!
Thank you for your reply Tom. I'm really excited to try it and have my first holiday tan, it's funny how most people take it for granted but it will be amazing not to worry about burning and just enjoy the sun!
Can anyone pm me and recommend a supplier who ships to the UK?
I will post pics if it works as results for type 1 skin are really what most of us want to see, although I don't think I've truly let my skin show in its full whiteness for years thanks to fake tan, but I will try.

You want it at the mucous membranes for as long as possible to allow for better absorption.
You can google pictures of the anatomy of the nose, but that won't really clear things up!
Generally, take it like you would a saline/allergy spray; you can usually find detailed instructions in the box.

I know how you feel, I'm the same! I have just got back from Spain, now I'm a lovely colour, didn't burn at all.
Thanks Tom, yes I googled the nose ha it seems the mucus membrane is the entire inside of the nose yes? I'm just not sure how to even use a nasal spray, never used before, think I might be going too far into the nose.. I just can't tell!!!!!! :-\

Pretty much, yes! It covers quite a large area, so you should be able to get moderate absorption anyway. If you can feel/taste it in your throat, it's going too far - sometimes it's intevitable, though.
Which spray did you buy? If it was a general spray, look at their instructions. If not just google it, or I'll type it up later as I'm a bit busy at the moment! ]

Great to see everyone's results, I'm still really worried about the risks but I'm trying to weigh up the pros - if I could tan, I would and it's more for the protective qualities too.
I wish I could tell my husband but he would think its do silly, I guess it's something only other type1s will understand!
Can anyone tell me if it is legal to buy and use? I wouldn't want to risk my job in any way.
Sorry for all the questions, part of me really wants to try but I'm also really nervous due to the nature of the product.
If only scenesse were available, I've given up hope with that - it seems to have been taking forever and there's the cost once it's available.
Oh just to enjoy a holiday without using fake tan and burning... ]

It depends on where you're from. Pretty much everywhere its legal to buy/possess/use, but illegal to sell, and generally import/export.
Don't worry about the questions, if we can help somebody out then that's good! Chances are that if you're thinking it, somebody else probably is too. Now all they have to do is look.
It doesn't appear Scenesse will ever be available for tanning purposes, unfortunately.
"
I don't think it is illegal to sell in the US as long as they use the disclaimer that is for research purposes only.
"
That'll normally only get you so far. If you start making a name they'll still close you down, unless you can prove you're only selling to approved laboratories/universities. It may take a while, but it will happen eventually!

About 2 weeks ago I started an experiment with MT-2 nasal spray and I'll put my ongoing experience with it on here--as there really isn't any good information out there about it that I've found.
"
Any chance you can prepare some nasal spray solutions for me and ill buy them off you?

Not sure if you're allowed to ask in public forums, you're probably better off PMing him anyway, he hasn't been active for about 2 weeks and he'll get an email that way.
Loaded 2 weeks before holiday.
First week, put 10mg into the Neilmed, which works out as 50mcg per spray.
Did 2 sprays in the morning, 2 before bed on first 4 days. No side effects, but noticed slight colour on my face and hands with no UV (except walking around London streets in October..). I had enough slight colour for people to say I looked healthy and notice a difference.
I upped the dose to 4 sprays morning and night for the next 3 days. Still no side effects* but no further change in skin colour.
I then added the second 10mg to the Neilmed spray. This worked out at something like 108mcg per spray given what I'd already used. I very much doubt the dosing is that accurate though.
I did 2 sprays 3 times a day for 2 days. Then upped it again to 4 sprays 3 times a day.
I'm now on vacation in the Maldives and Sri Lanka and have kept dosing. The first week was rain anyway, so little direct UV exposure. Second week I have been sun bathing. The Neilmed spray ran out yesterday (that's 3.5 weeks dosing in total).
Got to say, I've not really noticed any real tan effect. There is perhaps a very small improvement in my ability to tan, but next to my wife, who tans by just looking at the sun - and was staying out of the sun - I have very little colour.
All very disappointing.
I suspect a few things are happening here.
1. I note that the OP says he tans easily anyway, so perhaps doesn't need much MT2 to have an impact.
2. The OP loaded for 5 weeks prior. I didn't work out how much MT2 that was in total but I read you need to get 30mg in total to have an impact. With nasal dosing being 50% as effective, that's up to 60mg.
3. With the Neilmed spray I noticed you get quite a lot of loss down the back of the throat with any more than 2 sprays per nostril. Even at 2, there was loss
4. Doing 400mcg for 4 sprays might be too much for the nasal cavity to absorb. I note a comment that the MT2 molecule is quite large, so dosing more doesn't necessarily mean increased absorption.
So with the nasal spray, perhaps it needs]1 loading period of 4 weeks plus?
2 no more than 4 sprays and 200mcg each time you use it? Perhaps more is wasteful/ doesn't have an impact?
3 what's the experience of type 1 red heads on nasal sprays vs type 2/3s ho can tan?
"

I'm not particularly fond of loading periods. It should probably be 'period of slow tanning'. The point of loading seems wasteful, you're not taking advantage of the Melanotan you're using. If however you slowly expose yourself to UV then you can begin building your tan, this is what allows you to then lengthen your exposure time. The main point of this stage is to make sure you do it slowly and don't burn at all.
Viscosity also plays a very large part here, if its too thin it will hit the mucous membrane, some will absorb and some will run down. Others can be too thick and can get hindered before hitting the membrane. And then lastly as you say, there's only so much volume it can hold.
Did you consider carrying it with you and dosing one spray each nostril, 4 times a day?
And I'm not too sure one the type 1 vs 2/3 subject, can't be too different from normal usage though.
read up on this thread and I'm from the UK. Tried to find a suitable nasal spray that could replace the rhinaris one and found one called neilMed nasogel its 30ml which is also useful in terms of copying what the original poster suggested.
Quick query however is are these ingredients suitable?
Sodium Hyaluronate, Carboxymethylcellulose, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, Allantoin, Propylene Glycol & USP Grade Purified Water. Benzalkonium Chloride is added as a preservative.
want to make sure theres nothing in there thats going to make me lose a lot of money. I noticed glycerin to make it stick to mucus lining, the preservative, salt water etc, and that these have been mentioned as necessary… just want to make theres nothing in there thats going to cause any issues with diffusion. If someone could get back to me asap that'd be super appreciated as i go away in a month and want to start tanning!
I am not sure why people woud want to go through all that for a tanned appearance. I gather that Melanotan can do more for you than that, but it's primary use seems to be as a tanning agent. All things being equal though, if I was taking it, I would certainly want the ease of sniffing it rather than being injected. This just sounds kind of scary to me. Whatever you end up doing just be carful with the dosage, and follow instrutcitons.
