Lipotec unveils tan accelerating peptide

A new tanning accelerator peptide is claimed to speed up melanin production and boost and maintain a tan for two weeks after the last exposure to radiation.

Lipotec is a palmitoyl tripeptide that stimulates cAMP production (cyclic adenosine-3’,5’-monophosphate), increasing melanin synthesis and accelerating the tanning process under UV-inducing conditions.

The effects have been demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo. In a controlled in vitro study human epidermal melanocyte cells were incubated with Melatime at different concentrations. After four days of treatment melanin content was said to be increased by 180%. In vivo the ingredient was found to reduce the Individual Typological Angle values by 108% more than the placebo in the first week of treatment under UVA-inducing conditions and 14 days after last irradiation showed a decrease of 40%.

Lipotec says the material produces a natural tan by fitting the constitutive color and maintains the tan for two weeks after the last irradiation.
