"As of August 2013, the MHRA has received 18 reports detailing 74 separate reactions which are suspected to be side effects linked to the use of Melanotan. These include stomach and heart problems as well as blood and eye disorders."
Does anyone have more information about these 18 reports?* It would surely be very interesting to know more about these "74 separate reactions".
These articles are always kind of iffy. I remember reading an article about the dangers of Melanotan II awhile ago, it listed some minor side effects and then used a forum post as a source. I wouldn't be surprised if these 73 incidents were also just posts they read from the internet. I mean come on, if you're going to write an article about anything then you should know a post from an online message board is not a source.
Right.* My understanding of these chemicals is very limited so you'll have to excuse a certain amount of gullibility here.* However,* the mentioning of such serious side effects does leave a little room for concern.
For example, if these chemicals are not being thoroughly researched by professionals, rather experimented with by everyday individuals whom belong to forums such as these, what other platform would these individuals have to communicate experiences with these chemicals other than said forums.* Ordinarily I would agree with you completely but considering that there is a substantial lack of "official" evidence contributing to the understanding of these chemicals I consider any source of information to be potentially valid.
My hope is that there are studies currently being performed and the rest of the world will be included in the progress and conclusion of these studies but I'm not holding my breath just yet.
How many individuals have actually used Melanotan or MT-2 over the course of 10 years or more?* I'm very interested in the maybe not so immediate side effects that occur with prolonged use of these two peptides, specifically the effects on the heart.* Individuals choosing to experiment with these chemicals without a thorough understanding of both the short term and long term effects could lead to very unfortunate circumstances.

I understand this, my point was more that the media will publish very questionable info about MT II as facts and the public will believe it without thinking twice about the sources. And I agree with you about people not fully understanding the short term and long term effects of MTII, however the question is whether or not the risk is worth the reward. For type 1's many would say yes, it's a choice between a sunless life or the risks of side effects for them. For type 2's it's a little more questionable as we can tolerat the sun a bit more. Personally, I wouldn't of started MT2 if I hadn't begun working outside year round, at that point it became a question of whether I wanted to risk the side effects for more protection or to do nothing and allow my skin to be damaged beyond repair in 10-15 years. Many only do it for the looks which though understable is somewhat reckless.
I wouldn't read too much into these reports. First of all, it's probably just correlation not causation. Most clinical trials have somewhat worrying symptoms reported even in the control/placebo group. Also, even if it was related to Melanotan, it could very well be attributed to improper use (buying from a bad supplier, sharing needles, mega-dosing).
If you are concerned with long term side effects, I recommend sticking with MT-1 and keeping an eye on updates of Scenesse usage. While MT-1 and MT-2 are both safe short term, there isn't a ton of long term data on them. MT-1 has been approved in Europe for certain uses and has been deemed safe. All side effects noted in 400+ patients have been mild and nothing severe. If you want I can provide some links.
Although similar in structure, MT-2 can have different effects, though, such as sexual side effects. And it's only been studies in short term trials and is not being pursued any more, so we will probably never know the true long term side effects.
IMO this is the biggest concern, which the link describes as "It has also been reported that some people have seen moles or freckles change colour when using Melanotan. Changes in the size shape or colour of a mole or patch of skin can sometimes be a sign of skin cancer. There is a concern that Melanotan could lead to incorrect diagnoses, false alarms or unnecessary operations.".
long-term side effects are always possible, even when using authorized medicines.
In my opinion, impurities from peptide synthesis is a serious issue when using the black market stuff. The circulation time of the peptide is very short. It's degraded by proteases and other enzymes when entering the blood stream.
The good thing is, that the tanning effect lasts for serveral weeks until the skin layers renewed themselves. During this time it is not necessary to inject further MT2.
Furthermore, airborne particles, which can cause allergic reaction, are also problematic. For avoiding this, i always sterilize my reconstituted MT with a 0,2 micrometer syringe filter.
Bare in mind that the long term affects of alot approved drugs aren't always known. If I remeber correctly and please correct me if I'm wrong, the length a patient has to be on a drug to be considered for long term affects if three years. Unfortunately, as we've seen with alot of drugs that the long term affects may not show up until 10-15 years later but by then it may already be on the market.
On that note, we have a few users who have been on MTII for over 5 years and I believe the forum owner has been on for 10 years.
I will never trust any other source than the official and legal sources to post an study and its results]
Pubmed or any other university or professional school or research center.
Regarding Melanotan I or II there are Tons of studyes, you can just search Melanotan or its analogue alpha-MSH ( regarding M-1 ) , you could stay reading articles for the rest of your life.
I also wish there were more definitive studies regarding this drug. Does anyone know if there are any ongoing trials using this peptide? If not I guess the only way to monitor it is through users like us who post our experiences on this site.

There are not. The equivalent of Melanotan 1 has had many trials, a couple ongoing for different uses, and was just approved in Europe for use for a rare skin disease.

its very simple , if your worried about using MT then don't, the biggest trouble with MT use is the end user , cheep peptides, sloppy injections, not mixing right , not using the correct fluids ect. ect. as far as reports* way too many reports are biased leaning the way the ones doing the study want them to come out . so I'll say it again if your worried about using it then don't.
