I used MT2 a few years ago and I had a large scar from surgery it was 5-6 months post op at the time. I foolishly used MT2 and went on tanning beds and I taped my scar the whole time however it ended up turning an angry red colour and the pigment remained like that even at 5 years post op it was so obvious that I ended up having scar revision surgery and now I am 16 months out from that revision and already the scar is way better but still I have some redness in the middle of it.
I also have a new scar that is now 10 months old. So my question is does anyone have a timeframe as to when it is safe to use MT1 plus tanning beds without darkening my scar again?
I spent all last summer out of the sun and white as a ghost and miserable and this year I would love to go tanning again but I am a bit apprehensive.
Re: How old does a scar need to be to safely use MT1?
Hey tanabanana, I take it your skin tone is naturally pale? Do you have thoughts about taking MT-1 by itself, without the tanning bed? In my experience, Melanotan 1 did not affect my healing scars - my guess is you're clear* 8)
Re: How old does a scar need to be to safely use MT1?
Hey there,
Thanks for replying to me.
Yes I am very pale and I burn but not too easily though but after I burn I would rarely get a tan ]Previous years I would go to tanning beds and obtain a tan once I worked hard on it but it never lasted long.....during the MT2 process I went a really deep brown and held onto the colour for a long time however as I said the scar pigmentation was so obvious as were my freckles etc. so I stopped using it.
I don't think the MT1 would be any use without a tanning bed?? I am not sure though as I have not tried this yet ]
I do think it was the MT2 that discoloured my scar rather than the tanning bed as I always had paper tape on my scar and I always had an obvious tanline where the UV was not getting to my skin under the tape so I presume the discoloration came from the pigment increase in my body from using MT2 I could be wrong.....
Can I ask how old your scars were when you used MT1?
Thanks ]
