Hi, I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this is a bit of a repeat post...* I would very much like to try out MT1 or MT2, but I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go. A bit about me: I have type I skin with red hair but can actually do okay in the sun. I do burn quickly but not as severly as some of the other gingers out there. I also have mild to moderate rosacea which is the main reason why I would like to try melanotan. My goal is to get my skin to appear somewhat darker to mask my redness and blemishes.
Basically, my question is would I be able to get a mild to moderate tan with just MT1? I'm concerned about the potential side effects of MT2 and don't want to risk things too much. I live in Toronto so likely won't see the natural sun until June, so I would have to do some fake tanning i presume, which I have experinece with and I'm okay doing that. Would MT1 be enough to get my skin to look like a solid type II or type III? I really don't want to over do it either and end up looking too dark, I just don't want my friends and family asking a lot of questions.
Chris, I noticed you mentioned to cover tattoos, scars and moles when tanning. what is the reason for this? I have tattoos and have scars, and one on my face (I was a boxer for years).
Thanks to anyone who can help me with my decision.
Welcome Sweeney - fresh content and questions always welcomed.* Goal is to not have sensationalism headlines and fear mongering like some other melanotan forums operated my non-user(s).* Thank you for the compliment - will do my best to shed light on the MT-1 vs MT-2 dilemma.
Good thing about this question is that it is difficult to go wrong with the original.* Melanotan 1 suits your criteria well.* However, Melanotan II is likely going to be necessary to tan you to your satisfaction.*
Both products would require a fair amount of patience.* Given your skin type, goals and experience (& without feedback) the direction/plan of action could be]1st Melanotan purchase is 30mg MT-1
after daily (or every other day) doses ranging from 500mcg-1500mcg decide to then purchase another 30mg of Melanotan 1 or move onto 20m MT-II
One of the more important aspects of Melanotan experimentation for your particular type is getting the dosage right.* Wayyyy too many overdose on MT-II (you wont hear that about MT-1).* 100-500mcg of Melanotan II...smallest amounts are effective (dosages best taken in small amounts, often).
My prediction would be that Melanotan 1 could indeed give your skin some depth/thickness with a low dose & hardly any UV exposure.* I would hardly have confidence to hit the tanning beds with ginger skin only equipped with MT-1.*
To preserve the integrity of the tattoo/art...best to protect/cover while exposed to UVR.* Scars are not built the best for photo-protection and fresh wounds (or genitals) can become discolored/dark - best to cover.* Face should have SPF and be covered from exposure when possible.
In the end, I think your background makes you a good candidate for either* 8)
Hey Chris, thanks for the reply, I think you're absolute right.
ONe question, you mention that you would hardly have confidence in me hitting the tanning bed with just MT1, is that because MT1 is not potent enought to provide protection?
Also, like many other rosacea sufferers, I think I would benifit enourmously from the thickening of the skin alone. What would happen if I went on MT1 with absolutely no UVR? (through diligent protection). Would the skin stay pale but still thicken? That alone would be awesome.

In my experience with Melanotan 1 I have had decent luck with natural sunlight.* Have not had success with tanning on MT-1, in fact I have had a few sun burns while on....* Generally when MT-II is flowing it is very difficult to burn => body can take a lot of abuse and become tan, really amazing (per why the forum here exists).
Going on just MT-1 without emphasis or attention to UVR exposure/no exposure can play out well - takes a darker skinned candidate generally (skin type 2-3).* Hard to think of specific examples or photos, however I recall success stories - they are out there, very tough to find.* Hopefully the redness would slowly fade and the synthetic melanotropin can be considered a short-mid term relief...just shy of the cure.* Seeing small amounts of UV is important, doesn't take much (inject, minutes afterward or at some point go stretch outside while protecting the eyes and most sensitive areas).* Over time the objective is to have the skin be exposed while the hormone is abundant, instead of becoming red and inflamed the cells will operate on a new level, creating depth and protection via improved melanosomes...=> melanin density will create the distance and remove the redness traits from many rosacea sufferers
So if I try MT1 and dose 30 mg over the first month, how much would I need thereafter to maintain? Would I need 30mg every month? Or would 15mg per month be sufficient to maintain? Both scenarios assume careful and appropriate exposure to UVR.
Difficult to forecast too far ahead.* If you turn out to be a dedicated Melanotan 1 user, 100mg is probably the max you would consume on a yearly basis.
