A patient asked me today why I haven’t been writing more blog posts? I told her I have been working hard on a new book. More information about that will come soon.
Also today, my wife told me to stop writing about the flu vaccine. She thinks I am writing too much about it. I told her that the flu vaccine is like low-hanging fruit–it is just too easy to write about.
But, what can I do when a large hospital system sends out a letter with my name at the bottom which states that I am recommending the flu vaccine. You see, a patient of mine sent me copy of a letter he received from a local hospital system. The patient also included a not to me stating, “Dr. B, I don’t think this letter is from you. I thought you would like to see what they are sending out in your name.” A copy of the letter is shown below.
Folks, I assure you, this letter was not from me.
I called the hospital that sent this out and demanded a retraction be sent to all who received it. Note the letter states, “Influenza kills 25,000-30,000 people across the United States each year.”
Oh boy. Where do I start? Influenza does NOT kill 25,000-30,000 people each year. The truth is, in 2010, the CDC reported that the flu killed 500 people. (1) Of course if you go to the CDC’s website, they proclaim, “Over a period of 30 years, between 1976 and 2006, estimates of flu-associated deaths in the United States range from a low of about 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people.” (2)
I suggest the CDC stop estimating and start reporting the true numbers. The truth is that influenza annually kills a few hundred Americans. Of course, each death is tragic, but does anyone really believe that vaccinating 350 million Americans is going to drastically alter a few hundred Americans dying each year from the flu? I seriously doubt that, particularly when the flu vaccine has never been shown to significantly decrease the incidence of the flu. Furthermore, the flu vaccine has never been shown to lower the death rate from from the flu.
How do they get the 25,000-49,000 flu deaths per year number? It is an estimated number that includes the number of people who also die from pneumonia. How many people die from pneumonia each year? 49,597 died from pneumonia in 2010, according to the CDC’s data (see reference 1).
Does the flu vaccine protect against pneumonia? No. It has never been shown to protect against getting pneumonia.
Each year the CDC trots out their inaccurate numbers. If they told the truth, the flu vaccine would become a thing of the past. And, I haven’t even mentioned the toxic additives in the flu vaccine which include mercury and formaldehyde.

It’s hard not to talk about it! I’m right there with you! I’m sick of the lies and the manipulation and pressure to feel guilty because I’m not ‘protected’ or protecting those around me. I love what you are doing Dr Brownstein. I wish and hope more people wake up.
I am almost 67, a cancer survivor plus many other ailments mainly due to loads of radiation and low immune system. I have been taking Angrographis Extract 400 mg. every day for over 3 years without a case of flu. The recommendation was from watching Dr. Oz. I am not sure how you feel about his recommendations but this one sure works for me. Its an over the counter at the health food store for $15.60 / 90 capsules. Small price to pay for your immune system!
How about an entire book on Vitamin D3?
You could discuss the correct ranges to have, how it boosts non-specific immunity by 3-7x, its’ important in autoimmune disorders, digestion, Vitamin D receptors through out the body.
Best of all, studies actually show it might be most effective for the immune system. I’ve seen studies showing it has efficacy in treating tuberculosis!
I went into the medical field because I thought there were people of intelligence and integrity working there for the good of humanity. Now after almost 20 years of being in the field I am very disappointed. I believed that there were such things as medical facts, that could be true or false. I believed that researchers were honest, and faithful to a ‘scientific method’. Now I recognize that not to be the case. It is a terrible state to be in. I used to shun conspiracy theories as rantings of the those with self inflicted injuries. Now I’m not certain of anything! I like to recommend people view opinions from any professional as if they were talking to a used car salesperson. They are not quite lying to you, but their spin on the ‘facts’ may not be the only one. I am now being set up for aggressive ridicule from family and friends for pointing out that – ‘the emperor really isn’t wearing any clothes’…..It feels like the next step to enlightenment would be to divest our selves from as many modern society habits and customs as possible. Reduce things, reduce electrical dependence, reduce dependence on medical short cuts, go for the real thing – like the Greeks said , “pure water, pure food, and pure air”. Anything else is a sickness trap. I hope we have time….before it is too late.
I have never taken the flu shot to my knowledge, and won’t take it. I may have had the flu twice in 20+ years. I won’t take it, but I think some in the medical community will get snarky about taking in new patients who won’t take the shots. I’m finding a new doctor now because I won’t take the compounded meds my present doc has started prescribing. I want someone to help me get healthier, not keep me on a chemical tether (very costly) for the rest of my life. I look at it this way. Being unhealthy is costly. Medications are costly. So, if I’m putting out the money either way I may as well put it out in a healthier venue! Not to get political here, but I think the check box for the flu vaccine is next to the one that asks if you have any weapons in your home. I plan to stay as healhty as possible and live as long as possible.

I’m beginning to wonder if somehow we’ve become Russia. My niece was forced to get the flu shot at work, or she would have been fired. WHAAAT? She fought against it hard, but in the end, it came down to…the shot or her job. She doesn’t work in a hospital, and not that that should matter anyway, but in an office setting. This scenario sent me over the edge.
Thank you, Dr. Brownstein, for your truthful blogs, especially about the flu vaccine. Every time I go to a doctor, I am asked if I have had the flu shot, and find it very annoying! Tonight the news is covering nonstop the measles “epidemic”. For those of us who had measles as children, yet had our children vaccinated, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the measles vaccination. I no longer trust the media or Big Pharma, and would like to hear your opinion on this. Thank you for educating us!

Flu vaccines are downright dangerous. My daughter got the h1n1 flumist a few years ago, and lost her hair completely. Diagnosis: alopecia areata. This is happening to more and more kids. The public needs to know about the dangers of flu vaccines.
That said, I wonder if you gave treated any patients with alopecia areata with some success.
I work at a major pediatric hospital in the Midwest and as nurses we are mandated to get the flu vaccine or lose our jobs. Nobody cares about the true data supporting the problems with the vaccine. One of my nurse friend’s mother had a brain bleed just hours after receiving the flu vaccine. The person next to her in the ICU also had a bleed just hours after receiving the vaccine. But of course, the doctors said it could not be from that even though both women were very healthy just hours before.
My SIL reported to me that she was all but forced into taking the flu shot after reporting that she didn’t want it to the nurse. After being browbeaten she finally said ok and regrets it today. She received it before Thanksgiving and on Christmas Day she was still sick from taking it. She became ill within a day after receiving it. Of course she said she didn’t care what the dr’s office said she would never take it again. I have never taken one and never will. I was working in the local cancer center and one day the head nurse showed up at my desk with a syringe in her hand telling me to pull up my sleeve. I said why and she said for the flu shot. I said no thank you I don’t take them She insisted and I repeated no I don’t want it. She finally said ok. At that time they weren’t required for your job (2009). I think it is now required in the local hospitals if you work there and can loose your job for refusing it. Is there any legal way to refuse it when it is a requirement for your job? Thank you.

(Any other “advice” is potential entertainment. ; ~ ) Re: the name. I notice that it is in all caps. Very interesting that I should be reading this now after havng very recently reviewed a site regarding the use of all caps names. Based on the posted replies from your readers it is common for people to respond upon seeing an individual’s name in all caps just as if that name is the true name of that individual. Unfortunately that is not the case when considered at law. Anyone interested would best do their own due-dilligence and begin learning what’s going on with the all caps name is. After one does their own “due-dilgence” then there will be greater light on the matter in which to respond.

I’m just stopping by to tell everyone to please be careful with the D3. Fat soluble vitamins should be taken in balance with one another and should be in natural forms. There are dire consequences. I know first hand.
I don’t know why I’m surprised anymore with the shenanigans of the status quo. Speaking of… Did you see big pharmas new “Violet iodine.” Teeny amounts of iodine for big money.

What I want to know, is when are the scientists and physicians going to be able to go “mainstream”, as in an organized effort and finally blow the lid off the criminality of vaccines? When I stop to think about all that I’ve read about vaccines, my head spins and I have gnashing of teeth. It hurts my heart to think of how many infants and children are injected every day. So many people don’t connect the dots. I’ve just come to realize for myself and family members, vaccines could have very likely triggered immune system responses (including thyroid issues amongst other issues). Thousands and thousands of people will never connect these dots, unless people and healthcare professionals, and scientists start to speak out about what they know and have experienced. I actually haven’t been reading any of your vaccine posts, but I will see what you have to say, now! Thank you!

I work in a local nutrition store and we constantly hand out information regarding the dangers of flu vaccines. I appreciate your articles on the subject Dr. Brownstein. I had Guillian Barre Syndrome, which is a possible side affect of the flu vaccines and I don’t believe the CDC stresses the devastation on your life that it can cause. The way they describe the illness as a side effect it sounds like a simple infection or illness, not how serious it really is. People can spend the rest of their lives disabled and never truly regain their health, all from a vaccine that really doesn’t do anything to keep you healthy. Everyone needs to speak up to stop the mandatory flu shots on health care workers, and I appreciate all that you are doing.

I also never plan on taking the flu shot. Teaching good nutrition of eating more fresh fruit and veggies, nuts and seeds, thus improving your immune system would go a long way to preventing the flu, as well as many other illnesses and diseases.

Someone has to keep teaching about the insidious and sick pharma propaganda about “flu shots”. People can get the shots for FREE at CVS,…. and there are millions who don’t know the dangers yet. Thanks for teaching and liberating people. I hope your wife understands.
I’ve never gotten a flu shot either, and I don’t ever plan to, but I’m curious about the flu vaccine’s efficacy. This year, the newspapers and other media keep saying that the number of flu cases are up and more severe than usual. Some of them are blaming this on the fact that this year’s flu vaccine didn’t include the flu strain that is causing most of this year’s cases. So does this mean that the flu vaccine actually works sometimes?

I’ve never gotten a flu shot – and never plan to. I take plenty of D3 … year-round, and with a little fat so it can be better absorbed. The CDC would be better off spending more time and money educating the general public. Cover your nose and mouth when you cough and sneeze. WASH YOUR HANDS before touching your face if you’ve been out in public or around sick people.! And make use of the antibacterial wipes for shopping carts.
As for using your name to help their agenda? I don’t know that I’d sue them, but I’d certainly be bringing attention to the fact that they can’t be trusted.

I agree with Dr. Dotson. You should pursue legal action. Just because your name is not signed but typed in, does not mean that it is legal to pretend to be someone you are not. Holy cow, what is main stream medicine becoming?! To stoop so low as to send a physician’s patients letters pretending that they came from the physician.

I’m with Dr. Brownstein, I commend him for speaking up about the flu shots. Goodness I received them when I was very young. My parents were trying to help me get well from cold/flu….honestly 3 weeks after receiving the much hated flu shot…..I hot sick again? Isn’t that the reason to receive them, needless to say I could see this doesn’t add up.
Heck now if I get sick I take silver shield, 25,000 IU if vitamin d3, Oregano oil in a gel capsule, LDM.
I never have to take antibiotic –it takes 2 years to rebuild your ecosystem.
My mentor is 107 and he taught me not to take pharmacuticals.

I, for one, am GLAD you’re still writing about the flu vaccine, especially in light of the fact that this fraudulent letter has gone out. How confusing for your patients if you were to let that letter stand! By publishing this blog, you have publicly decried the illegal use of your name and called out a tremendous fraud. Your patients, readers, friends, and colleagues need to know that you did NOT issue any such letter. Thanks for clarifying this. I hope you pursue legal action to the extent possible.
