Folks, I am not happy right now.
The CDC has been caught red-handed altering data and lying to us about the MMR vaccine and the mainstream media is nowhere to be found. The CDC altered and buried data that could implicate the MMR vaccine as the culprit (or one of the culprits) behind why so many of our children (and their parents) are suffering with autism. Dr. William Thompson is a CDC scientist who co-authored the 2004 study that exonerated the MMR vaccine. On August 27, 2014, he released a letter that stated (in part), “My name is William Thompson. I am a Senior Scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where I have worked since 1998. I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics. The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.” The consequence of the researchers falsifying this data is that more and more children and parents are suffering.
Autism rates are continuing to rise, now reaching epidemic levels. In fact, recently released CDC data shows that autism rates have increased 30% since 2012. (1) Now, 1 in 68 children aged eight years have autism. This is increased form 1 in 88 children in 2012 (the rate was 1 in 150 in 2000). Keep in mind that there has been no change in the criteria to diagnose autism since 2012. And, to top it off, about 1 in 6 children in the United States had a developmental disability in 2006-2008, ranging from mild disabilities such as speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism. (2) When these latest numbers came out, the director of CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Coleen Boyle, PhD, commented, “…there is an urgent need to do more research.” She goes on to state that health professionals “should use this data to ensure children with {autism} are identified as early as possible and connected to the services they need.”
She’s right, there’s an urgent need to do more research. Or, how about actually reporting the true data not the falsified data behind vaccine research. Dr. Boyle, it is time to hear from you. In fact, it is time to hear from anyone at the CDC.
The decline of our children’s health should be a national priority that should be addressed by the highest levels of our government. Now, our government has been caught hiding and altering data which could explain why so many of our children are suffering from autism and the mainstream media will not report the facts or even investigate it. What is happening is a media blackout on the biggest scandal to hit medicine in recent times—important research data from the CDC was altered by CDC employees in order to make the MMR vaccine look like it was not associated with an increase in autism. However, when the true data was reported (3), the data showed a significant 240% increase risk in autism in African American children who received the MMR vaccine before 36 months of age. And, the same study showed the MMR vaccine associated with a 69% increase in autism in all male children when the first dose was received before 36 months of age.
Why is this happening? Is it racism—the media does not care about African American children? Is it the power of The Big Pharma Cartel to hide any information which shines a negative light on a vaccine? Are CDC employees vying to get high-paying Big Pharma jobs and they will do whatever it takes? Whatever the reason, it is time we take matters into our own hands. It is important to inform every parent of a young child of this information. They need to know this information before they agree to vaccinate their children.
This story needs to be on the front page of the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. It is time fo the media to wake up and report this growing story. What needs to be publicized is that all of our children , and especially African American, may be harmed when they receive a commonly prescribed childhood vaccine—the MMR vaccine– before 36 months of age.

Dr. Brownstein thank you for speaking out on this matter. My family has been harmed by vaccines. I was provaccine and thought they were wonderful until my son had an adverse reaction. He stopped speaking after the MMR, DTaP and Varicella vaccines at 20 months. He was a healthy and happy baby boy who met all of his milestones until those shots. The following summer, our son was diagnosed with PPD-NOS: a form of Autism. This should have never happened!
It should be noted that Coleen Boyle was a co-author on the paper with Thompson, so instead of sweeping their findings under the rug, they should have investigated them further. She has testified before Congress that there was no link between vaccines and autism.
As for why the mainstream media don’t report on this issue, or why they dismiss it like Slate, The Daily Beast, MoJo, and others have done, one need look no further than this statement by former Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, to Reader’s Digest: “There are groups out there that insist that vaccines are responsible for a variety of problems despite all scientific evidence to the contrary. We have reached out to media outlets to try to get them to not give the views of these people equal weight in their reporting to what science has shown and continues to show about the safety of vaccines” (rd.com/health/wellness/h1n1-the-report-card/). So essentially she asked the media to censor views contrary to the official stance on vaccines. The media also accept millions of dollars from pharmaceutical companies for advertising.
Hmmm. I think this will get nationwide coverage if only because it focuses on race. We must keep in mind that a whole pile of kids are being labeled autistic just because they are needing and IEP in school so they are wrongly put on the “spectrum” (a new convention) and then it screws up interventions that might actually work if the kids were autistic. Some families are looking for a label because it ups their take from government entitlements.
All that laid bare, one has to be suspect of the “genocide” take on this. That assumes there’s an INTENT and purposeful mechanism to target children of certain ethnicity. I just don’t think that’s there.
I’m definitely not a fan of vaccines, but I am a fan of TRUTH and I don’t find much credibility in these claims.
When this story broke two weeks ago, I felt sickened. Then last week, Mike Adams from Naturalnews.com who was one of the first people to publish the story, linked to a website that had mothers and fathers of autistic kids tell their story. If you were to listen to a string of them like I did, you could never, ever in a million years not believe that it was in fact the vaccines that put their child right over the edge into regressive autism. All tell the same story of having a normally developing child regress into a plethora of symptoms: loss of language, loss of eye contact, crying for days, weeks and months, terrible gastrointestinal pain, stimming, encephalopathies, dysbiosis, loss of appetitie, walking on the toes, head banging, mitochondrial dysfunction and the list of symptoms go on. . These stories are heartbreaking and am sure just represent the tip of the iceberg for the thousands of families coping with this horrible reality.

Question – what year did MMR vaccines begin regular administration? My understanding is that this vaccine has been used for many years, so why would the recent rise in autism be linked to this vaccine?

The MMR vaccine is not the sole cause of autism. I think autism is caused by a systemic overload of the child’s immune system. This could include other toxicities such as mercury (from the flu vaccine) as well as exposure to pesticides, and synthetic hormones. The recent rise in autism may be the result of an increasing toxicity from too many vaccines which contain aluminum, formaldehyde and other toxic substances. The MMR vaccine is just another drop in the bucket. Eventually, one drop in the bucket causes a lot of water to overflow even though there have been thousands of previous drops. The MMR vaccine may be “the straw that broke the camel’s back”.

I opted out of vaccinations for my son when he was in about 4th grade. He chose to enter the military and received all his ‘make-up’ and other vaccinations in one week. (I didn’t know enough to prepare him as Dr Brownstein suggests.) He was sick for the next year and ended up being medically discharged.
I now know that there are homeopathic preparations that are specifically designed to support the body in balancing its immune response after vaccination. There are also homeopathic remedies that can support the body in lieu of vaccinations.
Fran posts a link to a Slate article which references Gorski’s article as it’s main basis for “debunking” the CDC Whistleblower theory, yet 1/2 way down the page on Gorski’s article we find the crux of his argument which states, “So is Hooker’s result valid? Was there really a 3.4-fold increased risk for autism in African-American males who received MMR vaccination before the age of 36 months in this dataset? Who knows? Probably not, though”
How incredibly “science-based”; clearly Gorski couldn’t sit back and watch an issue about autism and vaccines go by without giving us his long-winded opinion on it that is concisely summarized by the phrase, “who knows?”
One thing is for sure, obviously Gorski doesn’t.
Laura VK is 100% correct, there has never been a study comparing rates of ASDs between fully vaccinated and fully unvaccinated populations but there is no end to the excuses from the vaccine apologists as to why it hasn’t been done, none of them make much sense.
I have a question about all these vaccines. Is there a “clean” vaccine for tetanus and meningitis? Or are all vaccines polluted with all the nasty additives??
A few years ago, my Pediatrician’s nurses kept shoving literature at me to have my daughter receive the Gardasil series of shots. I declined each and ever time. Here where we live, on a small island there are at least 2 cases of young women in their teens who did receive them and it has caused horrible muscle issues in them. One was a serious ice skater who was headed to great things, and she’s never been able to even return to the ice. Our local newspaper did a HUGE article on the girls for awareness, so kudos to them, but my daughter is now a senior in high school and her friends are STILL being told by uneducated parents that they are indeed getting these shots. The Drs. offices are still using the scare tactics and falsehoods on this particular vaccine, and now they want to give them to boys too??? Are physicians THAT dim that they can’t draw their OWN conclusions as to what’s happening with their patients???

My name is Laura and I am a registered nurse from Kansas City, MO. Although this is not an official study, I did want to mention that in preparation for my daughter’s birth last November, I read the works of Ina May Gaskin, the “mother of midwifery” here in the US. I watched documentaries on childbirth featuring her work and know that in all that information, I read/heard that at “The Farm,” the rural commune where Ina May was a midwife for many years, she was a part of, at minimum, 2,000 births, and there was not one incidence of autism. Ina May theorizes that medication administered via childbirth (epidural and otherwise) has an hand in autism as well. I will take some time to research further to see if I can find verifiable documentation, but I’m certain it’s out there. Ina May is widely respected and held in high regard in the medical community for the vast success in childbirth for those under her care.
To believe that the media is here to serve us is a big mistake. The media is tightly scripted and controlled. It lies to us on a daily basis. The USA now ranks 46 in Freedom of the Press – sandwiched between Haiti and Romania. We have to stop counting on the media to help. Thank goodness for people like Dr. Brownstein and others who have the courage to question authority and dig for the truth about vaccines.

It always the vaccines isn’t it? Other reasons include:
* Autism isn’t getting more common rather people had no reason to look for it back in the olden days.
* Many children are incorrectly diagnosed but are actually normal but poorly socialised. Children a few generations ago automatically went outside to play with other children whereas a great deal of children stay indoors and communicate through social media.
* Women were told to eat fatty fish for fertility reasons only get elevated mercury levels from the fish thanks to the pollution that enters the sea.
* More and more men and women are trying to start families in middle-age instead of young adulthood when they’re supposed to.
* There’s a far stronger correlation between organic food and autism. Yet few “alternative” people want to talk about that.
Our kids were RE-vaccinated for MMR back in about 1990. There was news going around back then that they had been vaccinated too young and needed it again. They were 12, 15 and 21. The youngest was sick for several months and almost went to Mayo because our doctor could not figure out what was wrong with him. I later learned that measles from a vaccine without the rash can make a person VERY ill. Thankfully, he recovered. The middle child was told years later that the second MMR is probably what collapsed her immune system and made her susceptible to Lyme Disease, which she still has. The oldest got a facial tick which he still has. MMR vaccine is NASTY, no matter how old you are!
Why not see if you can get Dr. Mercola to post on his site. He’s got a wide readership, mainstream knows about him and he is very interested in the effects of vaccines.
I appreciate your sentiments Dr. B! If major media coverage is essential to a more fully-informed public then let’s make a plan and go for it! How about considering getting a “publicist” (or the like) who can make the connections?
The agenda of immunization under the banner of immune building will surely collapse upon itself once our traditional wisdom of
“food as medicine” returns to the forefront of common sense. Take for instance the potential food-as-medicine of real (pasture fed) milk which has its own built-in immunity as long as it is in its natural raw state but which is compromised with pasteurization. It seems so ironic to me that the first food for all of the animal kingdom should fall into tremendous confusion when commercial greed comes onto the farm along with “Madison Avenue’s” sound and light show that essentially hypnotizes the masses into believing the new transformed product is somehow magically an improvement over nature’s original technology! I am amazed! Magicians! Maybe better described as “black magicians”!
Or – upgrade the outreach with a documentary! One that can not be ignored by major media! Include microscopy blood work that shows the impact of these Pharma products as they travel through the blood stream and how the body reacts to the foreign substances. A new “sound and light show” that outshines that old “black magic”! In any case I see the need for a shared vision with it’s own mission, etc. and committing to it! I can support that in a number of ways!
I am so glad that I found this blog and that you are standing up to the CDC and FDA. They no longer seem to have our children’s best health interest at heart. The FDA is controlled by the big Pharma companies, it is all about the money and power and not the children’s health. I have a grandson(6mo.old) just had his second set of vaccines about 10 or 11 days ago. I just talked to my daughter. He is very sick tonight with what she thinks is a ear infection,he has never been sick until now!!!! They are just to young, I don’t think their immune systems are developed enough @ this early age!!

not backing down. This story needs to go viral, we can no longer depend on our traditional news media or our American institutions (CDC, FDA etc) to protect and inform us, it’s that simple. We need to educate ourselves and everyone around us. And as we educate others we need to keep in mind that there are those who will not listen to what we have to say because they are frightened or are one of the multitude of people who are the sellouts and trolls of us and our country with the planned mission to make sure we are all ignorant sheeple so they can take advantage of us, our children and families. But no matter what we must not give up, we must speak with one voice as our children deserve the country as it was founded in 1776 on true Liberty and Freedom, it is up to us to make sure that they inherit the country our forefathers created with their own sweat, tears and willing gave their lives for!

By the way, has anybody noticed that this just compares children vaccinated before age 3 to children vaccinated after age 3?. The study comparing UNvaccinated children to vaccinated children has never been done, though autism parents have been begging for it for years. Since my own son was vaccine injured at age 12, I would guess that the group that was vaccinated later might have had even LESS autism with fewer vaccines (or none.)
And for the record, most autism parents do not believe that vaccines are the sole cause of autism. We believe that our children are so intoxicated with untested chemicals of every sort that for some children, vaccines become the tipping point event that plunges them into severe illness. Newborn babies now have a terrifying number of chemicals in their cord blood, before they ever eat an apple sprayed with poison, or drink water contaminated with chemicals, or get a vaccine. Then we just heap on more crap — unfoods, GMOs, plasticizers, & more. And then one fine day we shoot the baby full of toxic chemicals, pathogens (including those from the animals on whose tissues the pathogens were grown), fetal cells, etc. ad nauseum — often 9 vaccines in a single office visit. For some children, it is the last straw.
If you take a bad fall & break your leg, & you go to the doctor, you tell him, “I took a bad fall & I think I might have broken my leg.” And he says, “Yes, a bad fall can do that. Let me take an x-ray.” If you go to a doc & say, “My child was perfectly fine till he had his vaccines,” he ignores you & ridicules you & sends you away. Patient reporting is a vital component for every ailment except autism. Why is that, exactly?

Thanks for another great column. I am stunned to a new level that the mainstream media has blocked out this story. I keep checking to see if it’s been picked anywhere up since there is so much buzz about it in the autisms online community. I even emailed Rachel Maddow asking her please to look into it and cover it. It increasingly frightening how much the CDC and the FDA both are behaving so ignorantly and unethically when it coming to making policy decisions about health. Getting this story to the news and getting an investigation of CDC practices would be a worthy goal.

He has a bigger body and a better blood brain barrier–he should do better. However, I would take precautions. I would suggest loading with vitamin C (5-10,000mg), alpha lipoic acid (300mg), MSM (2,000mg), and a good probiotic before the vaccines and repeat this after the vaccines.

Getting more and more concerned about the ability to avoid vaccines. Thank you for making it all too clear that there are questions as to their safety. I have many friends that will be very interested in this information! I’ve ordered several of your books and have read both your salt book and the iodine book. My wife and I have been taking Lugol’s iodine regularly in an attempt to remedy our deficiency. Had a loading test done a couple of months ago after a couple of months of taking 50mg or more daily and found we are both still deficient. We are going to try to get pregnant soon and my wife’s ND is concerned about the amount of Lugol’s my wife has been taking… citing some seminar she recently attended where she learned that new borns of mothers taking extra iodine were born with over reactive thyroids. Is there really any truth to this? Is there reason for concern? Would appreciate any insight you can offer.

Gather 100,000 signatures or more (shouldn’t be a problem) and send it to them, letting them know that this is the kind of media coverage we expect if they want us to bother reading their papers or websites or watching their TV news slots.

My daughter was given the MMR vaccine back in 1967 (she was less than a year old). The doctor said “watch for a reaction within 11 days”. Exactly 11 days later she developed a temperature close to 105. We rushed her to the ER and was told she might have meningitis! From what I could tell she did not have meningitis or any other symptoms and showed no signs of Autism, which I never heard about then. Perhaps the vaccine was different then as that was a long time ago, but nonetheless I can’t tell you how angry I was at that doctor
Now she has a son who has been affected by vaccines. And she’s a news anchor on a major network!
I do not trust the medical community or the government for that matter.

I sat down this morning to read your book “Salt your way to health”. I have spent my life in construction so the medical field is one of any number of areas I have very little knowledge of. But the clarity and style of your writing lets even a rookie such as me really understand what otherwise would be “greek to me”. Then with your numerous footnotes I can easily confirm all your “common sense” deductions. It is truly amazing.
You have become my “go to guy” for information on my health and nutrition.
This article on MMR has hit home because a close friend has just had a baby boy. I don’t yet know how I will convince her to at least read it. But with your writing style and back up information I believe I stand a good chance of helping.

There is just no evidence connecting autism and vaccines. There must be some other factor involved, and if you continue to look at vaccines, you will never find it.

You are wrong. There are many studies showing a correlation with autism and other behavioral/medical disorders associated with vaccines. That is why they have the vaccine court, which has paid out settlements to children injured by vaccines and diagnosed with autism. No evidence? Read the latest study. There are many more. The largest source of evidence comes from the parents and I have seen far too many that report they had healthy child until a vaccine was given. Most of the time the MMR is reported as the problem vaccine. Parents know their children better than anyone. They do not deserve to be dismissed.
