The headline in the January 5, 2019 edition of the Wall Street Journal reads “Six Feet, 48 Hours, 10 Days: How to Avoid the Flu.”[i] This article, like nearly all main stream media flu articles was written to scare the reader into getting the flu vaccine. A with most mainstream medical articles about the flu, it is filled with fake news. Let’s analyze the article.
The author starts off by writing, “After a slow start, the flu season has taken off. Between Christmas and New Years Day, there was a marked rise in flu illnesses across the U.S.”
So far, no fake news to report.
However, as with most main stream media influenza stories, the writer misstates the true numbers of Americans who die from the flu. “In a mild year, influenza, a highly contagious viral infection of the respiratory system, kills as many as 12,000 people in the U.S., and in a bad year, it could be as many as 56,000.” I have two words to state here:
FAKE NEWS!
Folks, that is a blatant LIE. Over the last 38 years, neither twelve nor fifty-six thousand deaths from influenza infections occurred. In fact, the deaths from influenza are not even close to those numbers.
Why would the mainstream media and the Powers-That-Be continually lie about the numbers of people that die from the flu? It is not hard to understand why—they want to scare the public in order to increase the number of people vaccinated with the flu vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention keeps annual death statistics. When searching through that data, it is easy to find the first Table (Table B) which lists the number of deaths from the top fifteen causes of death (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr67/nvsr67_05.pdf–page 6). In fact, every year that the CDC reports the final data for deaths, the CDC combines influenza and pneumonia together as one of the top 15 causes of death. No other separate illnesses are combined, so why combine pneumonia and influenza which are two separate illnesses? The answer is easy: the CDC artificially inflates the numbers of deaths from influenza to scare us into getting the flu shot. You see, if a very small percentage of Americans died yearly from the flu vaccine, why would so many of want to get vaccinated for influenza?
The CDC has a direct financial interest in vaccinating the entire population since it holds multiple patents on vaccines including the flu vaccine.
In order to frighten the public to get the flu vaccine, the CDC’s scare tactics include annual statements that the flu kills 36,000 Americans per year. Last year, they said the flu killed 80,000. More fake news! What the CDC fails to state is that there has never been a year when 36,000 Americans died from laboratory-confirmed influenza. Looking at the flu death statistics from 1980- 2016 (the last year data is available) shows that a yearly average of 1,647 people died from the flu with a high of 5,251 in 2015 and a low of 257 in 2001. Keep in mind that is out of a population of 325 million people. How many died from a combined pneumonia and influenza during that same time period? A yearly average of 65,548 died yearly from combining both pneumonia and influenza.
It is clear that many more died from pneumonia. That is not fake news.
Any death is tragic. However, vaccinating 325 million people to prevent the 1,647 from dying from the flu is beyond ridiculous. And, I did not even go over the side effects of the flu vaccine. Does the flu vaccine protect against deaths from pneumonia? Nope.
Folks, the flu vaccine only works on a very small percentage of the population—less than 10% who receive it benefit from it. And, the elderly, the most vulnerable to the flu, have the worst response to the flu vaccine—perhaps 1% of the elderly are protected from the flu from the flu vaccine. When you factor in the toxic agents, such as mercury, in a flu vaccine, the question of whether to get a flu vaccine is easy: No way!!

Thanks for your article on the fake-news flu epidemic. I’d like to forward it to my friends (pharmacists… and you can imagine how hard it is to convince them of anything negatively impacting Big Pharma), but the link that lists the top 15 causes of death doesn’t work. It says “resource not available.” Once links stop working, it’s easy to claim the news is bupkis and give up. (You know how it is.). Also — and more importantly — can you provide the source (link) for the actual # of flu deaths per year? I’ve tried looking it up before and didn’t have any luck.

Here are the 2016 death statistics. Go to Table B (a few pages down). The info is there. You can search any year and find the same data. The number of flu deaths per year can be found further down in same data. That is not so easy to find.

I looked at Pneumonia/Flu deaths in 65+ for years data is available- 1981-2015. No appreciable improvement in 34 years, in spite of Pneumococcal & Flu Vaccines. Does this apply to all age groups? They have made it difficult to find the breakout of Pne/Flu deaths.

Trump’s new EO giving Americans “health freedom” to decline mandatory vax shots, esp for our children in schools/ and med. personnel who now are required to take these shots by their employers/ there is a very sad vid up at Mike Adams Natural News about the triplets who were healthy at 10 a.m and by supper time were autistic and very disabled after taking those multiple in one vax shots/ I just grieve over how our children and their parents are being treated/ anyone who has been in a classroom with autistic and neuro disabled students, let alone who are their parents, would never go along with Big Med/ I read somewhere that our children are getting 69 jabs from 16 dif vaxs before adulthood/ now there’s some 6 in 1 vax out being given/ this is insane, esp since US spends more than any other country on Med Care and is ranking lower and lower on health, esp of our children!!/thank you for your courage in standing up to this outrage!! Hi Dr B,
I was very skeptical reading that WSJ article on the flu. We don’t get flu vaccines in our family of 5 anymore. We do wash our hands a lot and take plenty of vitamins. Being over 65 I have a question , though. What about the pneumonia vaccine? My husband and I both get pestered about getting it and so far, have not had it. Is there any value to that one? My sister in law did get the vaccine and is just getting over a very bad month long bout of pneumonia. Wonder how they explain that?

Much appreciate the reference to “laboratory-confirmed influenza”. With this criteria in mind one will have to wonder whether or not there actually was a bonafide: “… marked rise in flu illnesses across the U.S.” I wouldn’t assume that this so called “rise” is based on “laboratory-confirmed influenza.”
What do you think of the “antibody titer test”? IMO – before doctors administer or even suggest anyone getting vaxxed to “prevent” catching the flu they should offer this test. Also before any vaccination the Individual should be given full-disclosure on the vaccine. There is a bill in Washington State[1] that the Weston A Price Foundation considers as “a good vaccine bill”[2] however it doesn’t assure full-disclosure to the Individual.

The flu vaccine has no effect on pneumonia deaths. As for preventing the flu, eating a healthy diet free of refined sugar and maintaining optimal hydration is the bests things we can all do. Vitamins A and D are helpful at the first signs of an illness.

They never give out stats on how many people who developed a particular disease had a vaccination for the disease, or the problems caused by the vaccinations. I also would like to have the earnings announced regarding CDC’s vaccine profits each year for the vaccine patents that CDC holds. Also, how was the money distributed.? Also Iwould like to see mandatory publication of stock held by the employees of CDC. The head administrator was revealed to be a holder. Oh, but having stock wouldn’t affect a researcher’s research findings, would it? Thanks to RFK, JR’s dogged research into CDC’s misdeeds & research fraud & to the CDC whistleblowers. The only time I did get sick was the year I got the flu vaccine, so never again for me. However, my Dr has encouraged each to get the pneumonia vaccine. What is your opinion on that vaccine?

If you read something in a nationally-recognized paper, it must be true…. right? People don’t have time to verify or fact-check everything they hear and read, so most people will just assume it is true.
It reminds me of a story I once read about a fellow who bought a donkey. If you adjust things a little, you will see there are similarities with vaccine situation.
A man bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.
Come morning, the farmer drove up and said, “Sorry, but I’ve got some bad news. The donkey died.”
“Well then, just give me my money back.”
“Can’t do that. I spent it already,” replied the farmer.
“OK then, just unload the donkey.”
“What’re you gonna do with him?” asked the farmer.
“I’m gonna raffle him off.”
“Ya can’t raffle off a dead donkey!” exclaimed the farmer.
“Sure I can. Watch me. I just won’t tell anyone he’s dead.”
A month later the farmer met up with the guy and asked about what happened with the dead donkey. “I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at $2 apiece and made a profit of $898.”
“Didn’t no one complain?” asked the farmer.
“Just the guy who won. So I gave him his $2 back.”
