A doctor writes about wanting vaccines free of toxic agents and you would think he was a mass murderer by the way other doctors and the media are beating him up. This firestorm should convince everyone that something is terribly wrong with conventional medicine and the media.
Are we not allowed to question the wisdom and safety of any medical therapy? Shouldn’t all medical therapies be held to a high standard of care?
Dr. Daniel Neides, a family doctor and the director and chief operating officer of the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute wrote a blog post ( http://www.cleveland.com/lyndhurst-south-euclid/index.ssf/2017/01/make_2017_the_year_to_avoid_to.html) on the news site http://cleveland.com/ his concerns with childhood vaccines. He wrote, “Does the vaccine burden – as has been debated for years – cause autism? I don’t know and will not debate that here. What I will stand up and scream is that newborns without intact immune systems and detoxification systems are being over-burdened with PRESERVATIVES AND ADJUVANTS IN THE VACCINES.” (Note: Dr. Neides’ post was removed shortly after the firestorm began and put back up a few hours later.)
Adjuvants are items added to a vaccine to stimulate the immune system. Aluminum, a known neurotoxin, is one such adjuvant commonly added to many childhood and adult vaccines. Mercury, one of the most toxic substances known to mankind is a preservative for many vaccines.
Dr. Neides continued his line of thought by writing, “Some of the vaccines have helped reduce the incidence of childhood communicable diseases, like meningitis and pneumonia. That is great news. But not at the expense of neurologic diseases like autism and ADHD increasing at alarming rates.”
When I read Dr. Neides comments, I was shocked that a physician employed by a large hospital organization would write something like that. I knew what would come next and it did. Physicians chastised him and the Cleveland Clinic immediately distanced itself from Dr. Neides and his post. “He wrote this opinion piece on his own and it does not reflect the position of the Cleveland Clinic whatsoever, and we strongly support vaccinations and the protection of patients and employees,” said Eileen Sheil, executive director of corporate communications for the medical center.

Dr. Vinay Prasad, a hematologist-oncologist at the Oregon Health and Sciences University, expressed disbelief on Twitter:

In an email to STAT, Prasad added, “That article … contains many of the tired, unsupported, irrational concerns about pediatric vaccines, as well as generally unsupported thoughts on ‘toxin’ exposure. Frankly, it is a little surprising it is written by a doctor, and not someone on the fringe, who lacks basic science and medical training.”
Dr. Jeffrey Matthews, chair of the University of Chicago’s Department of Surgery, tweeted:
Scientists and doctors were horrified about the misinformation contained in the article, especially given that the source is affiliated with a such a prestigious medical institution. A spokesperson for Cleveland Clinic told STAT on Saturday that Neides “will not be doing an interview.”
Dr. Benjamin Mazer, a resident physician in pathology at Yale-New Haven Hospital who tweeted that the article was “one of the most vile, false things I have ever read by a doctor,” said in an interview that it wasn’t an isolated event.
“This is really part of a larger movement that distrusts mainstream medicine, distrusts mainstream public health, and really trades in conspiracy theories,” he told STAT. “This article is a really prime example of that. It’s just a shame that it’s a physician spreading these conspiracy theories because people naturally trust physicians.”
He was especially appalled at the misinformation that Neides was spreading about hepatitis B vaccines, which, Mazer said, “have prevented thousands of deaths.”
Wow. Maybe doctors should never question the prevailing opinions in medicine. Perhaps doctors should not have questioned whether cigarettes caused lung cancer because it took a massive campaign for the cigarette-lung cancer connection to come out.
Perhaps the above doctors need to recall the story of Dr. Semmelweis, who is probably rolling in his grave right now. In the 1800’s, before the germ theory was discovered, a Hungarian phsycian1 questioned whether the lack of handwashing by doctors while delivering babies was responsible for transmitting something to the mothers that resulted in a higher mortality rate than women delivered by midwives. You see, back then, midwives washed their hands before delivering a baby while a doctor did not.
Dr. Semmelweis performed a study where physicians washed their hands before delivery and the mortality rate fell nearly 9x—to the same rate as the midwives. Then, he started to wash the medical instruments before use and the mortality rate fell further. After his study was completed, Dr. Semmelweis published his results and suffered the wrath of his peers. They simply could not accept that hand washing would improve mortality rates. In fact, it took nearly 20 years for his work to be accepted.
So, let’s move forward over 150 years to present-day time when a Cleveland Clinic doctor voices concern that vaccines should be safer by not containing carcinogens and neurotoxins. For that grievous (said with sarcasm) error, a resident physician claims this “is one of the most vile, false things I have ever read by a doctor”.
Give me a break. Our children are vaccinated with more vaccines than any children on the planet. Do we have healthier children for all these vaccinations?
No.
We have the sickest children on the face of the earth. We have more children dying, more with autism, asthma, autoimmune disorders, cancer and chronic illness than nearly every other major Western country.
Show me where the pediatric vaccine schedule has been appropriately studied.
It hasn’t.
Show me where it is safe to inject mercury, aluminum, or formaldehyde into any living being?
It isn’t.
Show me where vaccinated children are healthier than non-vaccinated children? You can’t because the CDC refuses to do the proper studies.
A whistle blower has come forth from the depths of the CDC stating that there is malfeasance at the CDC when it comes to the vaccine-autism connection. This whistle blower came out over two years ago—29 months ago. Why hasn’t he been called to testify, under oath, in front of Congress about his claims?
Dr. Neides is doing what any caring, intelligent physician should do when he/she recognizes something is wrong with a standard-of-care therapy—in this case, he is questioning whether vaccines may be causing health problems in our children.

The very next day he stated, “I apologize and regret publishing a blog that has caused so much concern and confusion for the public and medical community. I fully support vaccinations and my concern was meant to be positive around the safety of them.”
I don’t think Dr. Neides has anything to apologize for. In fact, I think he should be applauded.
If physicians never question anything in medicine, then how does anything change?
I think the Cleveland Clinic owes Dr. Neides an apology for not supporting him in voicing his opinion and starting a discussion about the safety of vaccines.

Let’s not forget about the psychiatrist who first questioned whether exposure to lead from paint and other sources was causing psychiatric issues in children and adults exposed to it. He was also chastised by the medical peers of his day, and made to give up his license to practice medicine. This is a very broken system and becoming more so everyday! There are plenty of people who no longer take their doctor’s word as gospel and that number is growing daily. The chasm between doctors who believe in real medicine and those who practice mainstream “medicine ” sponsored by Big Pharma is growing (but not fast enough). The functional medicine movement is testament to that. Mainstream medicine today is a dictatorship, you are not allowed to ask questions or disagree and your fellow practitioners will do what they can to keep you inline (maybe they think it is for the dissenting doctor’s preservation). I personally thank Dr. Neides for standing up and voicing concern. Without dissenters and whistle blowers we can’t even get the conversation started.

I would tell them that they are driving the public more and more away from conventional medicine the more they show how vehemently they oppose thoughtful discourse. The whole point of science is to question things. If we fail to question, we fail at science, and it becomes the realm of not-science (trying to avoid using the word religion or faith here).
Public outrage at the very core method of science, that is questioning something, is utterly ridiculous and an indicator of poor judgement. It is not an attack to question the safety of efficacy of anything, it is an attack on the very core of progress.
As an engineer by education and profession, having developed countless products I have learned that scientists use processes that are insufficient to bring a safe and effective product to market.
Peer review could not make a decent automobile because it is too complex. It might work for some small pieces and subsystems like for instance, a water pump, but not a whole. Even an ECU would be too much for peer review to handle. As scientific products gain complexity and the pieces interact with each other peer review will not do. And of course that assumes an ideal case from peer review, which isn’t the practical reality.
Engineered products, such as an automobile, under go various review processes. One process is known as failure modes and effects analysis. The products of science, vaccines, GMOs, and others do not undergo this process. It’s a scoring process of what might happen in terms of probability, severity, and detection. When something has too high of a score it needs to be examined. I’ve simplified it for this space, but it actually is a simple process.
When someone questions the manufacturing of vaccines, their schedules, the processes of raising GMO crops, the gene insertion process, etc what they are doing is the start of a FMEA. They are starting to score the risks. This is a logical and sound but it would uncover things that the peer review process never looked into. But it is processes like this that allow people not to die when they fail to properly maintain their car, keep aircraft from falling from the sky, keep the electricity on, and so forth.
I’ve brought this up online and in person to person discussion and the reaction has been shall I say much like the one the doctor being discussed by the article had. All I do is suggest that products that are put into our bodies undergo processes similar to the machines that carry them (among others).

The large marjority of physiciains aren’t scientists, though they like to think they are.
What sciencetific training they had is generally courses taking during their undergraduate studies, and done so most unwillingly.
How many physicians really got into Org. Chem. or biochemistry beyond assimilating enough info to pass the exams, then to forget most of that?

The layman may call a physician a doctor, but an actual physician should know better.
Doctors/doctorates are academic DEGREE holders, it is not a profession.
Their profession is physician, and the all have UNEARNED doctorates, as that degree is merely conferred when graduating medical school
At any other field, the degree from a professional school is called a masters.
Rare is the physician that actually bothers doing scientific research qualifiying as a dissertation.
The purpose of a vaccine is to manipulate (trick) the person’s immune system. It is not the real disease they are giving the person; it is a fake one. One should wonder why tricking the immune system would not cause immune system problems. This is not proof that it does, but given the incidence of asthma, lupus, etc., it certainly suggests that the full effects of vaccines should be studied to find evidence pro or con.
I have noticed that it is very difficult for people to question or change their myths and beliefs. There is always an emotional attack on the person who questions the myth, rather than a reasoned response and discussion. When you see that emotional response, you know that they are protecting their myth, or else they are just protecting their business income.
Dr. Neides, have you met Dr. Andrew Wakefield from London and now in the States? He lost everything to stand up for his patients…and says it was worth it.
Don’t apologize for believing in something!
Well these same doctors deny the dangers of GMO despite the fact that multiple top journals, more prestigious than any they’ve been published in, have published reams of new evidence showing that GMO plants only have a fraction of the nutritional value of organic crops, are less robust and develop dangerously high levels of formaldehyde. The mechanism, the trigger and the ensuing result are clearly detailed and verified. Yet these same doctors are mute on the topic. So in a nutshell, this cabal of unpublished doctors from low grade hospitals who deny the mountains of evidence about the toxicity of mercury, aluminum and formaldehyde are bashing an elite doctor from an elite hospital. And have the arrogance to think we’re listening or swayed by their inept decrees. I daresay they are 180 degrees wrong about whose reputation their statements will damage.
Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut and be considered a tool than to open it and remove all doubt. Note that I do not even endeavor to address the claims about vaccines. That argument is over. Vaccines are poison. It’s time to move past that point and into the prosecution and revocation phase for those who manufacture and administer these poisons.

I wouldn’t contact the Cleveland Clinic over this. If they start to get too much “heat” over making that doctor apologize then they’ll just get rid of him. Take his information and act on it quietly.

I am so very grateful to you for all of the information you put out on your blog. I have been reading it for a few years. I am 82 and was an RN and was married to an anesthesiologist for 58 years. I am fascinated with research and have been very upset that you and your colleagues in medicine are being persecuted for stating your beliefs. I am frightened by the way Big Pharma is controlling much of medicine. I worry for my grandchildren who will soon start having babies. They will be pressured into having multiple vaccinations which have the potential to do great harm to my great grandchildren. For all of us who are believers in God, perhaps we can all earnestly pray for a solution to this terrible problem. The power of prayer could make the difference. If vaccines are safe and not causing any problems at all, then why not do the trials to prove it? Many more children and people in the mean time will be affected by the adverse effects of the toxins, however, the truth needs to come out once and for all. I received the circle of needles test prior to the BCG back in the lat 50’s. As I didn’t react it was assumed I had not been in contact with TB and so needed the vaccination. Years later after so many ignored symptoms I was hospitalised for six months whilst my mysterious illness was unravelled. i had Ileo-caecal TB. How could that be ? As it is a live vaccine I can only presume it travelled to my gut as it was not present in the lungs.
So the appendicitis at 17 was something else – as were the lumps erupting in my lower legs blamed on an allergy to cabbage. My school performance slowly went down and down after the vaccination. Crohns also diagnosed at the time of the TB at 27 when they removed the Ileo-caecal valve. And so the surgeries continued. Then the Hashimotos diagnosis and so it goes on.
I am now 70 – I have retired to Crete – teach yoga – keep busy with a guest House and generally enjoy life now that I have taken my health into my own hands. It is only as I have gained more knowledge that I have realised how it was that my health began to deteriorate. I would not have a vaccine of any sort and would support anyone with the same feelings.

Thank you Dr Brownstein for bringing up the article of Dr Neides who should be praised for taking his Hippocratic Oath seriously and have the best interest in mind for his patients. He is absolutely right, vaccines are ok but his questions about adding adjuvants, neurotoxins, i.e. Aluminium, Mercury, and the likes should be questioned by any honest doctors that want the best for the patients. I read Dr Neides article and filtered through the corresponding backlash and all the comments. You are right Dr Brownstein, hell did break loose. I am tired of all the same statements being whipped back too and fro over and over including the same insults. Which leads me to believe that people are more attached to their own personal views and not using the best science out there to get the best picture they can on vaccinations. The science has not been good enough, it’s still not good enough. We need more. It’s clearly very very serious urgent situation that needs to be dealt with. It’s not sorted. it’s not complete. It is not done and dusted. Why should Dr Neides even find himself getting a ‘preservative free’ vaccination with a formaldehyde based preservative at all? How did we get to this reality? Why did anyone say gee! formaldehyde, what a great idea! Maybe there isn’t a cheaper alternative, but surely there’s a better one to start with even just as an instinctual starting point to try out. Honestly, the swirling desperate confusion we all live in and people swear they know the truth about it all. Let me just offer my encouragement to you Dr Brownstein to keep on asking for the truth.
Dr Brownstein, as you probably already know it only took about 200 years against fierce and derisive opposition, oh and about a million deaths in the British Royal Navy from Scurvy before the powers that be accepted that lime juice was a good preventative, i.e.. Vitamin C in its natural form.
This truth is still ignored today and many in hospitals (of all places) and care homes are likely to be suffering yet agin from Scurvy though no one, especially a doctor, should suggest that a lack of Vitamin C could be causing many symptoms of ill health in the very young, the aged or infirm in care.
Illness is not a natural human condition, though equally good health is not a right and must be fought for, mostly against ignorance and despotism.
He should just have his own Clinic. He is saying truth and they don’t want the money to stop flowing in due to vaccines and if kids were heathier they would have no business. Keeping kids/adult sick makes them money. I ran into this try to get help for my MS and there is much ego/hate toward Alternative medicine. They have my health backwards in records and 20 errors in some reports and tried to withhold what I need to be ok. They don’t want people to heal. All the MS people could heal fast. The tell MS people to get their vaccines. We may lose a whole generation of kids who are the future adults. 1/2 of America maybe disabled due to gluten/GMO/Roundup/pesticides/food with a label//Fluoride in water/too many vaccines, too young, too many total vaccines with mercury/Al etc. My family tree thinks the Conventional way. They don’t realize the amount of vaccines is not the same as when they grew up. My mom wanted the flu shot all the more when they said there was a shortage. She wanted the shingle shot also due to listening to the fear on TV about shingles. The pharmacist told her you don’t want the shingles shot. I know people who got shingles after the shingles shot. My sister’s granddaughter had to have a monitor due to lack of breathing when a baby, yet my sister is provaccines. She doesn’t see the connection. My sister thinks prevention is vaccines/mammograms etc and eats gluten/GMO/dairy/soy/sugar/food with a label which may destroy health. Prevention is to eat healthy and get sunlight/exercise/low stress/friends/family/nature/God etc. It is easier to prevent then try to rebuild a person’s brain/body. Conventional medicine doesn’t mention about Celiac/supplements/detoxing etc. Blood tests may not work for TSH/hormones/Mg/Vit B12/Fe/Vit A/Celiac/Lyme etc, and doctors will say you are ok when you are not so people never get any real help. I am glad the doctor spoke up. God bless him and protect him. The Clinic should discipline themselves…not him. He is speaking the truth. When the doctor kids get sick due to vaccines etc they may not give their kids vaccines, but may give it to other kids…to bad they are not being honest. Even pets are getting too many vaccines and are getting hurt by them. I have two cats who got very sick after a vaccine. Vets make money off of sick pets. The road less travels makes all the difference. Broad is the path to destruction and narrow the path that heals and few find it due to TV ads/assuming the doctor is smart and will tell them the truth/trusting what insurance pays for instead of going to Alternative medicine people who may help them heal fast.
I applaud Jacqueline, Marilyn Gang, Sean Hinckley, Carolyn McDowell, Patricia, Janet Black and all of the comments above – I’m from Australia (we’ve actually been labelled “another state of USA” following like SHEEPLE what happens in US).
My real concern is – yes there’s a tremendous awakening of medical misinformation in the name of PROFIT from Big Pharma, however they have such deep pockets, (we see this all the time with “expert mouth pieces” being paid off to declare ridiculous Misinformation).
Dr Brownstein, – Just how can we all help to fight Big Pharma when we know all the media are also controlled by them. I try very subtly to put valid vaccination information updates out on social media and I’m really only preaching to the converted! Mainstream just don’t want to know it’s like they can’t think – maybe too much fluoride in the water.
The best way to fight is to spend your health care dollars seeing health care practitioners who support your views.

My daughter has had 8 years of Chronic Fatigue after a combined hepA/B vaccine. But of course that is patently rejected by those who administer it. Not that it was their fault…..but perhaps they should keep these incidents as statistic and not dismiss them as inconvenient. Good job Doc, keep it up!
Dr. Marc Hyman, head of the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Functional Medicine, wrote a wonderful blog in 2014 titled, “Thimerosal: Why We Need To Open the Debate on Safety”. Dr Hyman’s article cites more of the research and authors regarding mercury and thimerosol.
Perhaps because he is such a best-selling author and name in functional medicine, perhaps because he begins his article by saying that he is pro-vaccine, or perhaps because the thrust of his article is about the 1400 points of reference regarding the safety of mercury that he helped vet for Robert F Kennedy in his book, “Thimerosol: Let the Science Speak” — this is why there was no hysteria following Dr. Hyman’s blog post?
Dr. Hyman concludes his article by proposing that we should immediately remove thimerosol from vaccines and all other products in medicine.
Why isn’t Dr. Hyman’s conclusion obvious to everyone? Why does money and corruption always trump common sense in conventional medicine?
The answer is the reason that functional medicine is here to stay and conventional medicine is not.
There is something seriously wrong when people respond in such a manner to honest questioning of the safety of what we are putting into our children’s bodies. There has been plenty of evidence that vaccines have had harmful effects on some children and adults. I know of several in my own sphere who have suffered serious harm, even the death of a 2 month old fetus after a flu shot to the mother. The doctor in question isn’t against vaccines, he just wants safe vaccines. Shouldn’t we all want that? What kind of society do we live in that trained professionals cannot make observations and question practices that have resulted in detrimental effects to their patients?
It is my observation that when people ridicule and scoff at anyone who dares question the status quo, they are usually the ones in the wrong. If you have to ridicule and bully someone else to defend your own position, it is suspect. That could be termed “vile” and “horrifying”, not the Dr.’s honest concern.

He clearly had no idea what wa about to be unleashed upon his head. What he suggested was incredibly mild and he is still on board with vaccination – but you’d never know it from the response he’s received. Pitiful.
I hope this causes him to think even more deeply about this issue and that it steels his resolve to look into it further. Hopefully he will see Vaxxed (if he hasn’t already).

Why am I not the least bit surprised at the responses – these are the very doctors who would experience anger when patients heal (themselves) of fatal disease. Instead of experiencing joy in such healing, they instead feel threatened by a patient who accomplishes precisely what they cannot… and the bigger the ego, the greater the anger, the harder the fall into the reality of fallibility.
Physicians are consultants, and I equate their services to that of a financial consultant who advises but certainly cannot force you, against your will, to buy the recommended investments. Therefore, the medical community is ‘on its head;’ let me be the first to properly diagnose it – chronic folie a tous!

Same here in Australia, Media and Medical profession any anti-vaccination mention at all for any reason is immediately crushed with loud abusive and threatening language I have always taken the view that if information is valid and can be proven easily if someone has a query then it should be able to be explained by using calm, logical reasoning and this should always apply in science because we are told that everything is checked so carefully. So why does any hint of an issue or query cause such an outpouring of venom? I applaud those physician’s who are brave enough to step forward and question the ingredients placed in vaccines. I have two grandchildren who are vaccine injured and it upsets me that the CDC continues to add more vaccines to the list, that vaccines are becoming mandatory (should be ones own choice what they want to put in their body), that pharmaceutical company’s are offering incentives to pediatricians of fully vaccinated children, and they family’s are being bullied into taking these toxin filled injections or face being dismissed from their practice for refusing. We are not asking to do away with vaccines we are just asking for safer vaccines, for valid non-biased truthful studies, and for vaccine schedules that don’t over tax the immune system of these small children. Thank you Dr. Neides and Dr. Brownstein for just having the courage to stand up and be heard.

Bravo to Dr. Neides for writing an intelligent article, although I’m sure he is currently sizzling in the Cleveland Clinic’s frying pan to atone for his “sin”. As a health care practitioner, I’m amazed at the quick rush to burn anyone at the stake who dares question the mainstream dogma. I mourn the inability to have an intelligent and respectful discussion about vaccines and other practices (such as statins) with my peers.
If there is risk, there should always be a choice and every patient (and parent of young children) is entitled to a full and honest disclosure of risks versus potential benefits prior to making any treatment decision.
My heart breaks for young parents who are harassed and shamed by their pediatricians for even daring to ask questions about vaccines. If you look at the bills for those immunization visits, it’s easy to see why those practitioners love the proliferation in childhood vaccinations.
Dr. Mazer’s comment was somewhat amusing – “It’s just a shame that it’s a physician spreading these conspiracy theories because people naturally trust physicians.”. Educated patients understand we have a for profit medical model that is highly influenced by those who stand to profit. Buyer beware.

I wish more physicians, especially pediatricians, would recognize that those small bodies do not need that high a dose at one time. And be willing to space them out and maybe start a bit later as well.
Many will stand deliberately against the obvious. They will classify us as “alternative medicine,” and yet the healing comes from Nature not a needle. For thirty years now, I’ve taught about how we live, what we eat, lifestyle, and people continue to support the systemic models even when they know they are flawed? Misinformation campaigns are abundant to diminish the truth from being told, people are often diagnosed and subjected when they could have easily reversed their lack of ease. How sad.

Dr. Neides didn’t even say that vaccines should be abolished. He said, “… newborns without intact immune systems and detoxification systems are being over-burdened with PRESERVATIVES AND ADJUVANTS IN THE VACCINES.” This makes perfect sense to me. An intact immune system needs to be present to have the vaccines work. Dr. Neides didn’t say that vaccines were a problem, he just said questioned the use of preservatives and adjuvants in newborns. If doctors can’t question, how will we ever make progress in the health of our population. Dr. Brownstein is spot on in his blog.

Dr. B, as ridiculed this Doctor and many others are for their opinion regarding immunizations you can only imagine how new parents are treated by their pediatricians. I for one have stood nose to nose with my daughters pediatrician only to be questioned, frowned upon, and literally fought with. My oldestt daughter was told by her pediatrician ” do not worry, when you are 18, your mom can no longer stop you from receiving your immunizations ” can you imagine. Needless to say…she is no longer their pediatrician. Just unimaginable bullying. Though many will cave out of fear of untruth.

I come from mainstream medicine and I also question many things, including vaccines that contain toxic elements. Why is the medical community so reluctant to question anything? This is not good science. We are allowing pharmaceutical companies to brainwash everyone.
