What are the chances of Sodium Chloride becoming contaminated?

I have just mixed 2ml of Sodium Chloride with 10mg MT2 and am going to leave in in a ziplock bag for a few hours before I preload my syringes.

Just wondering what are the chances of sodium chloride becoming contaminated?
And would it be better in the future to be on the safe side and use bac water?
How would you know if it has been contaminated and whats the worse that could happen?

So long as it's in the fridge you're good to go.


Assuming you have used a new ampule of water, clean needles and a alcohol wipe on the rubber stopper, there is next to no chance you have a contaminated vial.
We can tell this from the fact that everything is sterile;
The inside of the vial, including the needle opening, will be sterile until the twist cap is removed.
The needles will be sterile until the caps are removed.
The inside of the MT2 vial is sterile until the stopper has been penetrated.


The only issue is the rubber stopper - make sure you clean it well with an alcohol wipe to stop any bacteria being carried through on the needle point.
