About the Center for Holistic Medicine

The Center for Holistic Medicine in West Bloomfield, Michigan was established by three of the most progressive and prominent physicians in holistic medicine today. Our holistic doctors Dr. Brownstein, Dr. Ng, and Dr. Nusbaum are dedicated to raising the level of awareness of the choices available in natural healing. Our team is completed by our very own nutritional consultant. Sheryl Shenefelt, C.N.
At CHM we believe that the body has a remarkable healing capacity when given the proper foundation, and we use natural methods of healing to return our patients to their natural, vibrant selves. These include a diet with the proper level of healing nutrients, as well as vitamins, minerals and herbs tailored to the individual. In addition, mind-body techniques lead to transformations which promote healing. The center offers other healing arts. Hands-on healers help balance the body’s energy fields. Finally, the Center for Holistic Medicine conducts research to advance this emerging field.

Our Specialists

Dr David Brownstein
Dr David Brownstein is one of the foremost practitioners of holistic medicine. He obtained an M.D. degree from Wayne State University in 1989, completed a Family Practice residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan and is a Board-Certified family physician. He has lectured internationally to physicians and others about his success in using natural hormones and nutritional therapies in his practice. He is the author of The Miracle of Natural Hormones, Overcoming Arthritis, Overcoming Thyroid Disorders, and Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Brownstein is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College for the Advancement in Medicine. He is the father of two beautiful girls, Hailey and Jessica, and is a retired soccer coach.
Dr Jeffrey Nusbaum
Dr. Jeffrey Nusbaum received both his bachelor’s degree and M.D. degree from Wayne State University. He completed his residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. Dr. Nusbaum is a member of the American College for the Advancement in Medicine (a not-for-profit medical society dedicated to educating physicians and other health care professionals on the latest findings and emerging procedures in preventive/nutritional medicine). Additionally, he is a member of the Broda O. Barnes, M.D. Research Foundation (an organization dedicated to educational research and training in the fields of thyroid and other hormonal imbalances). Dr. Nusbaum has completed special training in nutritional therapies, Applied Kinesiology, Natural Hormonal Balancing, Korean Hand Acupuncture and Hypnotherapy. He has lectured extensively on holistic treatment approaches for a variety of medical conditions. In his practice, he specializes in the use of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, systemic enzymes, herbs and bioidentical hormones.


Dr. Richard Ng
Dr. Richard Ng received his M.D. degree from Wayne State University, and completed a Family Practice residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. He also holds a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. In addition, Dr. Ng has studied acupuncture and nutritional medicine. His practice emphasizes the use of vitamins, herbs and natural hormones. Dr. Ng also advises individuals on strengthening and conditioning.
Ms Taylor Eason
Ms. Taylor Eason (FNP-BC), earned her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Michigan in 2010, followed by a master of science in nursing from Oakland University in 2014.
Taylor also continued her medical education at the Center for Holistic Medicine, working closely with Drs Brownstein, Ng, & Nusbaum. During the 20 years that the physicians have been in practice, never have they found anyone to be as competent, intuitive, & insightful of a holistic practitioner during Taylor’s years of training.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Taylor will provides the following medical care to our patients:
– comprehensive and focused physical examinations
– diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and injuries
– manage high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and other chronic health problems;
– order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays and EKGs, as well as laboratory tests;
– prescribe medications and therapies; perform procedures;
– educate / counsel patients and their families regarding healthy lifestyles and health care options.

Ms. Jennie Drummond
Ms. Jennie Drummond, our nationally certified Physician Assistant, who has been practicing medicine for over 15 years. Jennie has experience in many areas of medicine including Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, Physiatry, and Family Medicine. She personally adopted a Holistic lifestyle at the beginning of her career, and is thrilled to be joining a practice where she can share the knowledge and skills that she utilizes for herself and her family.
Jennie’s practice emphasizes treating the whole person, and incorporates the following specialties: – Assessing and diagnosing acute, episodic, and chronic illness
– Treatment of thyroid and other hormonal imbalances
– Therapies for coping with autoimmune disorders
– Ozone therapy
– Stem cell therapy
– Wellness-focused nutritional consultation using natural vitamins, minerals, herbs and hormones to help the body heal itself, including: nutritional IV therapies and bio-identical hormones.
